PM Shehbaz Lauds Fia, ib for dismantling the important network of trafficking in people

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the Federal Research Agency (FIA) on Sunday and the Intelligence Office (IB) for dismantling an important network of trafficking in persons and detaining its key suspicious, Usman Jajja.

During a televised meeting with agency officials, ministers and the Secretary of the Interior, the Prime Minister expressed the hope that such operations help eradicate Pakistan’s human smuggling.

“The black business of human trafficking has damaged Pakistan’s reputation, and many citizens have lost their lives in tragic boat incidents near Italy and Morocco,” said Prime Minister Shehbaz.

The prime minister granted shields of appreciation and financial incentives to officials who played a key role in repression. He urged the law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to stop trafficking networks and defend Pakistan’s image worldwide.

FIA and IB informed the prime minister about the arrest of traffickers and their facilitators, describing the measures taken to avoid illegal migration.

The authorities have intensified operations against smuggling networks after international scrutiny on the role of Pakistan on human trafficking routes.
