- An error in recent updates for Windows 11 and 10 Co -filled
- Microsoft has quickly solved this and restored the Copilot application
- The company will undoubtedly seek to forget this strange episode in the history of the IA assistant with the same speed.
Microsoft has hurried a patch to replace co -pilot on Windows 11 (and Windows 10), after the last update round for its operating systems eliminated the application for the AI assistant (for some users, anyway).
In what is one of the most scratched errors in the head that we have seen of Microsoft in the recent past, and has some competition there, it is not wrong, the key introduction for Windows 11 in regards to AI worries was accidentally eliminated from some PC.
Windows last noticed that the solution has now landed, and observed that Microsoft updated its support documents for Windows affected versions, which are Windows 11 24h2 and 23h2, and also Windows 10.
Microsoft tells us: “This problem has been solved and the affected devices are returned to their original state.”
So, if the Copilot application has disappeared from its desk, it will soon be returned to its legitimate place, although the cure that pushes all the affected systems can take a little time.
As Microsoft also points out, if you can’t wait, you can manually reinstall the co -pilot application yourself. You will find it in the Microsoft store (and once it is installed again, you can also manually fix it in the taskbar).
ANALYSIS: An expected response to a disconcerting error
Windows Latter also observed that Microsoft maintained this rather under the radar, maintaining its updates of known problems (including resolution) only to the respective support documents for Windows versions, instead of marking this on the general Windows Health board.
However, that is not surprising, and in fact the quick solution is not a surprise either. Let’s be realistic, this was a level of red alert shame here: Microsoft is pressing to boost the adoption of co -ilot, so abandoning the AI application by mistake of some Windows 11 devices was rather shooting in the foot, for saying at least.
Clearly, it was not a difficult solution, and in any case, as Microsoft has pointed out, it was not difficult to rectify the problem yourself simply reinstalling the application of co -drivers manually.
As a final thought, here is an interesting question to reflect: how many of the affected PCs that had eliminated Copilot even noticed what the AI assistant was missing? If you never summons the Copilot application, you may not even have noticed that the icon be lost in the taskbar. I bet that a few people will have fallen into that category …
That said, it should be taken into account that, for what I know, only a relatively small set of Windows 11 (and 10) users was affected by the error of co -ilot of disappearance in the first place, so the general impact would probably be limited. As mentioned, this is more a shame of public relations for Microsoft than anything else, but it is certainly a strange mistake to have happened.
