March Madness: Fan launches the water bottle on the court in the Louisville-Creightton game

It was an early way out for the eighths of Louisville, who lost to No. 9 Creighton, 89-75, in their native state of Kentucky in March of Madness on Thursday.

In the final moments of the game, the frustrations were injured.

Louisville chief coach Pat Kelsey was called for a technical foul after shouting an official, but that was the less worrying incident.

While both teams snuggled due to the foul, a fan threw a bottle of water on the court into the Bank of Creighton, which caused a minor delay.

“That was a bottle full of water. That was very dangerous, and it happened right about Creighton’s bank,” said game announcer Brian Anderson. “I will tell you, whoever has done that, should never be allowed to return to this sand.”

Creighton’s chief coach Greg McDermott used a towel to clean the water.

Jamiya Neal scored 29 points in his career and had 12 rebounds, while Steven Ashworth connected far beyond the arch on the road to 22 points.

The Bluejays of McDermott (25-10) won their fifth first consecutive game of March Madness and beat a team in the top 10 for the second time this season. Louisville (27-8), despite its unproven planting, entered the number 10 in the top 25 of AP.

Chucky Hepburn scored 22 points, and Terrence Edwards Jr. had 21 for Louisville (27-8), which improved his record in 19 wins during the past season with a heavy list of transfer under Kelsey, a first-year chief coach. It was the appearance of the first madness of the cardinals since 2019, and they met a Creighton team with a lot of experience in postseason.

“They played well today. They were the best team,” Kelsey said.

The Bluejays face No. 1 Auburn in the 32nd round on Saturday. A discomfort would beat Creighton, his fourth Sweet 16 appearance in the last five tournaments.
