Pakistan, the United Kingdom discuss terrorism strategy

Islamabad:

Pakistan and the United Kingdom discussed Thursday to adopt a joint strategy against terrorism.

In recent weeks, the country has faced an increase in terrorism, from suicidal bombings and objective murders to complex assaults in military and mosque bases.

To address the problem and build a joint narrative, the Parliamentary National Security Committee (PCN) met on Monday and emphasized the urgent need to implement anti-terrorism frameworks: the National Action Plan (NAP) and Vision Azm-Itehkam, to curb terrorism.

With this in sight, the advisor of the Prime Minister of Political and Public Affairs, Rana Sanaullah Khan, held an important meeting with the high British commissioner Jane Marriott.

Both dignitaries discussed the increase in security cooperation and taking collaboration measures to guarantee regional peace and stability and agreed to strengthen the exchange of intelligence and operational cooperation in anti -terrorist efforts.

They also discussed ways to strengthen economic associations, improve business relations and explore new ways of mutual cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.

During the meeting, Sanullah, who also has the portfolio of the Ministry of Interprovincial Coordination (IPC), reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expand bilateral ties with the United Kingdom, said a press release.

In addition, cultural exchanges and the promotion of people ties to people were discussed to further strengthen relations between the two nations.

Sanaullah emphasized that the Pakistan government is committed to deepening cooperation with the United Kingdom in all sectors and will take all necessary measures to achieve this goal.
