The focal person of the Prime Minister in the eradication of polyomyelitis, Mrs. Ayesha Raza Faooq on Wednesday to strengthen the Polyomyelitis program and make more efforts aimed at the eradication of the disease due to the increase in cases in the country.

“The current outbreak is alarming, with six children already paralyzed in 2025,” he said while presiding over a meeting of the National Poly Management Team (NPMT) to evaluate progress, address emerging challenges and refine the strategies for the next national immunization campaigns scheduled in April and May.

“We must remain attentive, proactive and committed to refine our approaches to stay ahead of the virus,” he added when emphasizing the urgency of the moment.

The meeting brought together national and provincial coordinators, members of the central group and key interested parties.

The meeting reinforced the importance of the participation of the workforce with gender inclination, the synergy between essential immunization and the eradication efforts of polyomyelitis, and the fulfillment of the latest recommendations of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG).
