Cate Blanchett spoke frankly about Ageism and Sexism in Hollywood,
He Black bag star told Business intern In a recent conversation that when he entered the industry actresses they usually only remained popular or in demand for about five years before their careers began to decrease.
“The useful life of the actresses when I arrived at the scene was about five years,” he said.
But now, “I think producers have more agency,” Blanchett said. “There are more women in the writing room, and the more diverse the industry at the base level, when things develop, the more exciting it is for the public.”
The twice winner of the Academy award pointed out that “Ageism” and “sexism” exist in all industries, but because Hollywood is a “very public industry”, these problems are especially prominent.
Previously, in an interview with The Sunday Times In March 2024, Blanchett spoke about aging, saying that he does not find aging “confronting at all.”
“Because that is like when you stumble upon a photo of a vacation when you had 16 or one of my husband and I when we got married. It does not produce repentance or shame,” he explained. “Rather, a recognition of the joy of experience, or a painful moment.”
“I am transported back,” Blanchett added.
