Former Judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC) has retired his resignation as president of the National Industrial Relations Commissions (NIRC).
Justice (retd) Siddiqui made this decision after a meeting with the Ministry of Pakistanis Secretary abroad, Dr. Arshad Mahmood. During the meeting, Dr. Mahmood praised Siddiqui’s efforts to accelerate the pending cases of workers and guarantee rapid justice in the last three months.
Recognizing the key role of the NIRC in resolving workers’ problems, the secretary urged the former IHC judge to continue serving in the position for the welfare of workers. Justice (retd) Siddiqui later agreed to withdraw his resignation and continue as president of NIRC for the improvement of workers.
Previously, he had submitted a one -month notice for his resignation. The Federal Cabinet had appointed former IHC judge as president of NIRC for a period of three years in December 2024.
Justice (retd) Shuakat Aziz Siddiqui was fired in October 2018 since his position as Judge of Puisne of the IHC in view of a presidential reference presented against him by the federal government led by PTI.
The judge transferred to the Supreme Court against the decision of the Supreme Judicial Council. However, the Apex court occupied its case only after its retirement and in March 2024 left aside the order of its dismissal and revived its status as former IHC judge.
