I get a grimace before the perspective of the rumored Leica M11-V, here is why

  • The next camera in the series M of Leica could be the first to have an evf
  • It could be the most small, lighter and more versatile Leica camera so far
  • The Leica Photos application refers to ‘M11-V’

Leica seems to be on the verge of launching a new model in the legendary M Series, but it is likely that the news will be with the dismay of some staunch fans. Because? Well, it seems that the M11-V will be the first M series to leave the iconic optical television station, replacing it with an electronic viewfinder (EVF).

The news is courtesy of Leica Rumores, which indicates that the latest beta version of the application photos of Leica contains references to an M11-V model. That suggests that an official announcement is imminent, perhaps as soon as some time in the coming weeks. In the past, Leica Rumors has published filtered images that seem to show an M series camera with a large rear touch screen, a clean upper plaque, without ISO dial and an EVF. It also seems to be something smaller than the previous models of the M series.

Leica, of course, has produced many cameras with EVF in the past, such as its premium compact Q3 and Q3 43 and its series of cameras without mirror L-Montor, the last of which, Leica SL3-S, Techradar reviewed only recently. But, until now, the M series has remained firmly only from the telemeter.
