Dera Ismail Khan:
Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the dialogue with Afghanistan was not within the reach of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government, stating that foreign relations were the exclusive dominance of the State.
He warned that the direct intervention of the provincial authorities could complicate instead of solving delicate problems.
Speaking during a visit to Dera Ismail Khan, the former prime minister emphasized that international diplomacy must always be carried out at the state level. “This is an issue for the Federation, not for the provinces,” he added.
Abbasi painted a gloomy image of the current state of the country, noting that there were economic, political and security crises, adding that the only viable path is found in democratic continuity and political stability.
“We are not part of any protest movement at this stage,” he said, referring to the current opposition position. “Our main objective is to take all opposition matches to a single platform.”
He admitted that like the government, the opposition has also remained fragmented during the past year. “Without a united opposition, no significant political movement can take shape,” said Abbasi.
He added that consultations with several parties were underway to overcome internal divisions and promote collective political thinking.
His statement occurs when the impulse of the opposition to shake the political panorama is collecting steam. However, without the muscle of Jui-F Street, the alliance stays in search of a united front.
Despite the multiple rounds of conversations, the head of Jui-F, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, remains not compromised, citing concerns about PTI’s leadership structure in the absence of former Prime Minister of Prison Imran Khan.
As reported above, the Mauna has sought clear guarantees about the authority of decision -making before supporting the opposition movement.
Earlier on Friday, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and the main politician Mehtab Abbasi visited the residence of Chief Jamiat Ulema-E-Islam (JUI-F) MAULANA Fazlur Rehman.
The meeting, held in a cordial atmosphere, was mainly to extend the eid jump to the veteran religious and political leader.
During the visit, leaders participated in a discussion about the prevailing national political situation. According to the reports, the conversation mentioned the key challenges facing the country and the role of opposition parties in the current panorama.
Answering a question about electricity prices, Abbasi, speaking in Di Khan, also dismissed the notion that the recent drop in price reflected a better government performance.
“The decrease in power tariffs is purely due to the fall in world oil prices, not the local government,” he said. “What is needed is a sustainable energy policy and long term.”
