A European Civil Aviation team is scheduled to visit Pakistan next week to provide, for the first time, training and certification of specialized security to airport regulators, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The two -members team, sent in the European Union directive, will train aviation security personnel at Islamabad airport, said Express News.

The sessions will focus on complying with international standards, particularly on the explosive tracking detection areas (ETD) and explosive detection dogs (EDD).

A CAA spokesman confirmed that the initiative aims to align the Pakistan aviation security protocols with renowned reference points worldwide, improving the general security of the airport.

“This is a significant milestone in our efforts to bring the security of aviation in Pakistan to international standards,” said the spokesman.

Last year, the European Commission and the European Aviation Security Agency (EASA) officially lifted the PIA suspension and granted authorization for Airblue to operate flights to Europe, marking a significant milestone for the Pakistan aviation sector.

This development restores direct aerial links between the destinations of Pakistan and Europe, following a prohibition that had been in force since 2020.

The Aviation Minister, Khawaja Asif, confirmed the news, stating that the lifting of the suspension and the new authorization for Airblue were possible due to the efforts focused by the Aviation Ministry to strengthen the Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) and improve the supervision of security in compliance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (Icao).
