Islamabad:
The president of the Senate, Yousuf Raza Gilani, has said that Pakistan and Russia share common objectives for global peace, security and multipolarity in global affairs.
He made these comments during a meeting with the president of the Council of the Federation of Russia, Valentina Matiyenko, remained outside the 150th Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union (IPU) in Tashkent.
Gilani said that the evolutionary relationship of Pakistan and Russia is based on mutual respect and increasingly broad cooperation through defense, commerce, energy and multilateral platforms such as SCO.
The two parties agreed to improve the institutional links among their respective parliaments, including exchange visits, the rebirth of parliamentary friendship groups and the consistent dialogue to address shared challenges. Gilani recognized the importance of current defense collaboration and suggested a greater focus on security dialogue, military training exchanges and anti -terrorism coordination.
With the bilateral trade that shows a positive impulse, both parties discussed the diversification of economic ties in areas such as energy, agriculture, pharmaceutical products and IT.
The president of the Senate advocated establishing bank channels and improving connectivity in regional frameworks.
Pakistan expressed strong support for the role of Russia in the promotion of regional stability and multipolar global governance.
