The Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunications, Shaza Fatima, said that Spacex Starlink Internet services will enter Pakistan in November or December of this year.

The announcement was held during a meeting of the Permanent Committee of the National Assembly on Telecom, chaired by MNA Aminul Haque. The Telecommunications Authority of Pakistan (PTA) informed the Committee on the Starlink license process.

The president of the PTA confirmed that Starlink received a temporary license for the Space Board, and added that a complete operational license would be issued once the regulatory frameworks are completed.

“There are no problems with the license process,” said Minister Shaza Fatima, clarifying that the Internet satellite is a new technology and several aspects are needed thoroughly. “A consultant has been hired to finish the regulations. Once done, Starlink will have to re -apply,” he added.

The minister also revealed that a Chinese company had submitted a similar application to provide satellite Internet services in Pakistan. “Shanghai Spacecom is also in the tail. We want to open the space internet sector to multiple players to guarantee competition,” he said.

The minister confirmed that the infrastructure installation is underway and Starlink services are expected to be launched in the last quarter of 2025.
