The United Nations: millions of people in 14 countries run the risk of starvation after the United States abruptly arrested emergency food aid, the United Nations warned.
The World Food Program (PMA), which was already dealing with a 40 percent drop in the funds for this year, said that 14 countries had been informed of the new US help.
In comments on X, the agency did not appoint these countries.
“If it is implemented, this could be a death sentence for millions of people who face extreme hunger and hunger,” said the agency.
The PMA is not the only UN agency hit by American fund cuts, since the United States under President Donald Trump becomes sharply inward and stops trying to help other countries around the world as part of an isolationist agenda.
The Trump administration told the UN Population Fund, an agency dedicated to promoting sexual and reproductive health, which was finishing two programs, the organization told AFP on Monday.
One of the programs was for Afghanistan, while the other involved Syria.
Other countries in addition to the United States have also announced fund cuts in recent months, causing alarm between NGOs and international organizations.
The Trump Administration has largely destroyed the USAID, the main humanitarian assistance organization in the United States. Previously it had an annual budget of $ 42.8 billion, which was 42 percent of all the money of the help disbursed worldwide.
