Defi Game Aavegotchi to leave polygon, migrates the entire ecosystem to the coinbase base

The DAO that runs Aavegotchi, a non-fungible token game (NFT) of niche, voted overwhelmingly to migrate the entire ecosystem to rely from Polygon, a movement that reflects the changing developer and the feeling of users in the widest landscape of Ethereum Layer-2.

With 93.25% of the votes in favor, the proposal, entitled “Make Aavegotchi based again”, establishes plans for a complete deployment at the base, the layer of layers of layer 2 coinbase that has gained ground between decentralized applications.

All Aavegotchi NFT, wearables, game assets and intelligent contracts will be cloned and relaunched at the base, according to the proposal, with assets inherited in Polygon that will remain visible but frozen to avoid transfers or updates.

Migration occurs in the middle of a strong decrease in the use of polygon. According to Defillama data, the total blocked value (TVL) in the chain has fallen from a peak of almost $ 10 billion in 2021 to only $ 737 million today. In early 2024, TVL stood at $ 892 million.

Meanwhile, Base has seen TVL increase from $ 2.9 billion from $ 430 million since the beginning of last year. Artemis data also show that Polygon’s active directions fell from 1.3 million to 550,000 during the past year, while the base doubled to almost 900,000.

Pixelcraft Studios, the developer behind Aavegotchi, cited an improved incorporation, faster transactions and better market support as key reasons for move. An envelope contract will also be introduced to protect the assets that appear in markets such as Magicateen and Opensa.

Migration is expected to be completed within four to six weeks.
