- Users report a persistent Google messages error
- Repeated a reaction from emoji to the images in the chats.
- The problem can be limited to users who execute the beta application
We are seeing multiple reports of an emoji reaction error quite annoying in Google’s messages, one that asks you to apply a reaction to the last message received before you can do anything else, if the last message in the chat was an image.
These reports appeared in Reddit (through the Android Police) in recent days, and it seems that many users have met them. It really does not break the application, but it is a more frustrating user experience.
Emoji reactions were added to Google messages last year, one of several updates recently launched to help you catch up with the other popular messaging services, including WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Imessage.
It means that you can react to any message with an emoji of your choice, instead of sending a complete response: but with this error users are asked to leave a reaction as soon as they return to a chat. In general, you must press a message for a long time to mention the emojis.

As for the mistakes in Google’s messages, this is not the most serious thing we have found. The easiest way to solve the problem is to send a standard text message to add to the chat, which seems to resume normal service again. We have asked Google for an update on the problem and we will update this story if we receive news.
The error also seems to be affecting the users of the beta version of Google messages, so you could try to update the latest stable version to solve the problem. You can do this from the Google messages list in the Play Store application on your phone.
Hopefully this discomfort is attracted before it comes out more widely, which should be the case if only beta users are affected. After all, the whole purpose of beta tests is to crush this type of errors before a complete update.
Diligent code excavators have seen numerous new features apparently on the way to Google messages: it seems likely to see improvements in how the texts are handled and how you can administer your occupied group chats.
