Augusta National Golf Club has several rules for its golfers and clients, declared and not written.
The male golf coach of the Arizona State University, Matt Thurmond, learned of one of those rules in the difficult way this week before 2025 Masters Tournament.
Thurmond, who has been with him Demon of the sun Since 2016, he was withdrawn from the golf course during a practice session on Tuesday after he went out for former Asu Kevin Yu player, who is making his masters debut this year.

The reason for its elimination? Thurmond wore shorts in the course.

“I went out to the rank without thinking, I hugged him,” said Thurmond, Via Golfweek. “After approximately one shot and a quick greeting, they came out and said ‘sorry, sir, you can’t be in the range with your shorts.”
Violating what many call the “golden rule” of Augusta National It is one of the strictest rules of the historic club. While customers are free to wear shorts, beyond the strings where players and coaches can be, long -term pants are required.

“My bad, it was a mistake I made,” Thurmond said later, through Golfweek. “I want to follow the rules here when I am in August and do everything right. Good to be here and appreciate everything here. I just made a mistake.”
Thurmond is in Georgia this weekend to support Josele Ballester of Asu, who obtained his exemption to compete in the Masters after winning the US fan in August.

Using pants in the course is not the only rule in Augusta.
There are no cell phones on the ground and referring to fans as clients are among the best known, but several golfers recently Golfweek shot about some of the least known and not expressed rules.
Wearing socks for dinner, not combining the iconic green jacket with jeans, and not sitting in the mountain range are just some that were mentioned.
