LAHORE:
The Superior Court of Lahore (LHC) on Thursday announced its verdict reserved on an intra-court appeal that challenges the appointment of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, as Vice Prime Minister and dismissed the request as not maintainable.
A two -members bank led by Judge Chaudhry Muhammad IQbal confirmed the previous decision of the Single Bank, which had also dismissed the plea.
The court observed that, Prima Facie, the Constitution allows the prime minister to assign any position to a member of the Parliament or a senior individual.
The detailed trial will be issued later.
During the hearing, the additional attorney general Nasar Ahmad opposed the appeal, which was presented by a citizen, Ashba Kamran. The request had appointed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and others as respondents.
