The Energy Division has issued a notification that announces a reduction of RS1.71 per unit in electricity prices for consumers throughout the country, including K-Electric. This price cut will be applicable from April to June 2025.

According to the notification issued by the Energy Division, the price reduction will benefit consumers throughout the country, including the low K-Electric. However, the reduction will not apply to lifeguard consumers.

The price cut has been possible through additional subsidies of the federal government.

It is worth noting that, only one day before, the National Regulatory Authority of Electric Power (NEPRA) had approved the government’s request to reduce electricity prices, even in Karachi, under the oil tax.

Nepra has sanctioned a RS1.71 price reduction per unit, and the decision has been sent to the federal government for its implementation.

This price reduction occurs after a previous adjustment in electricity rates, where a reduction of RS1.90 per unit was applied to quarterly adjustments for consumers throughout the country, even in Karachi.

Previously, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had announced a reduction of RS7.41 per unit for residential consumers on April 3, which raised the price of electricity for national users at RS 38.37 per unit.

In addition, a reduction of RS7.59 per unit for industrial consumers was announced, lowering its electricity price to RS40.60 per unit.
