Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had conversations with the Delegation of the United States Congress in Islamabad on Sunday, with conversations focused on anti -terrorism cooperation and strengthening bilateral investment ties.
The visiting delegation included congressmen Jack Bergman, Tom Suozzi and Jonathan Jackson. Pakistan Minister of State for the Interior Talal Chaudry, the American ambassador Natalie Baker and Interior Secretary Khurram Agha also attended the meeting.
According to the Ministry of Interior, discussions covered economic cooperation, commerce, investment and security, with a particular emphasis on contracterrorism and border security.
During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi described Pakistan as a “wall” between terrorism and the world in general, urging greater international collaboration.
“Terrorism is a global challenge and the international community urgently needs to fully cooperate with Pakistan,” Naqvi said.
The Interior Minister requested a deeper intelligence exchange and access to advanced terrorism technology.
Pakistan and the United States are scheduled to celebrate an anti -terrorism dialogue dedicated in June in the midst of an increase in militant violence in the western border regions of Pakistan with Afghanistan.
Islamabad has long accused Kabul to house militants aimed at Pakistani forces, accusations rejected by the government led by the Taliban in Afghanistan.
