A Special Court in Islamabad approved on Tuesday two requests presented by Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), the founder Imran Khan, giving him the right to speak with his children and undergo a medical check-up.
The decision was announced by the Central Special Judge FIA, Shah Rukh Arjemand, who approved Khan’s two requests after reviewing the requests.
Imran’s lawyers, Usman Riaz Gill and Zaheer Abbas, appeared before the court.
During today’s hearing, lawyer Gill argued that, although a previous court order had requested a medical check -up, Khan’s personal doctors should now conduct this in the presence of prison staff.
He also requested that regular monthly checks be guaranteed.
Zaheer Abbas added that the previous medical exams had already been carried out under the orders of the Superior Court of Islamabad. The legal team urged the court to defend Khan’s right to health and family contact.
After reviewing the presentations, the Court ruled in favor of Imran, granting the applications and ordering the prison authorities to organize a telephone conversation between Imran and their children. The court also ordered that their personal doctors perform a medical check -up, with a compliance report that will be presented before April 28.
Imran, which remains imprisoned in the midst of legal challenges, has repeatedly raised concerns about restricted family contact and health problems.
