LAHORE:

The president of the Superior Court of Lahore, Aalia Neelum, has emphasized the importance of preserving the dignity of the Judiciary while urging the legal community to move away from the predominant culture of strikes and judicial boycots.

During a meeting with representatives of various district associations and lawyers of Tehsil in the Superior Court of Lahore, CJ Aalia Neelum asked the legal fraternity to adopt more constructive approaches to address complaints.

She emphasized that strikes should not be the default response, since judicial procedures interrupt and severely impact the livelihoods of many lawyers, particularly those that depend on the daily appearances of the court.

“When the courts remain closed, the litigants suffer and so do the most vulnerable members of the legal profession,” said the president of the Supreme Court, highlighting the broader consequences of strike actions.

He reiterated the need for a cooperative and respectful environment between the bank and the bar, noting that the dignity of the courts is closely linked to the conduct and respect of the legal community. “A collaborative relationship is essential to maintain the rule of law and maintain public confidence in the Judiciary,” he said.

When addressing concerns about judicial officials, CJ Neelum reported that any complaints are presented in writing, ensuring that they are addressed transparently and due process. “Transparency and responsibility are cornerstones of our Judiciary,” he said.

The president of the Supreme Court also shared updates on key infrastructure projects aimed at modernizing the judicial system, including the next construction of a state -of -the -art judicial tower in Lahore.
