Pakistan, Hungary signature visa exemption agreement for diplomats

Pakistan and Hungary have signed an agreement to abolish the visa requirements for diplomatic passport holders of both countries, together with two comprehension memorandes (MOU) focused on cooperation in culture and archeology.

The agreements were signed on Thursday during the visit of the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Commerce, Péter Szijjártó, who is in Islamabad at the invitation of the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar.

The visit also commemorates the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Szijjáró leads a high -level delegation, which includes 17 commercial representatives, to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan.

Speaking at a joint press conference, Szijjartó expressed his satisfaction on the signed agreements and recognized Pakistan’s efforts to combat militancy, stating that his role contributed to broader European security.

He also raised concerns about the threats of terrorism emanating from Afghanistan, linking them with possible migration pressures on Europe.

The prime minister deputy gave the agreements as steps to improve bilateral ties, emphasizing their potential to strengthen government to government and people.

The visit is aligned with the broader strategy of Islamabad to attract European investments in key sectors, including energy, tourism, mining and agriculture, after recent agreements with nations of the Gulf.
