Serena Williams He has cleared the air in his controversial appearance in the mid -time of the Super Bowl, revealing in an interview this week that dance during the performance of Kendrick Lamar was not an excavation to his ex, Drake.

Some disagree with the dance itself due to the affiliations of their gangs, and others raised questions about why Williams, which is married to two children, would point to an old flame.

During an interview with Time magazine, Williams, who was named the 100 most influential people of 2025, said that his participation did not intend to show shade to his ex.
“Absolutely not,” he said during the interview.
“I would never do that. And that was sad, someone thought that. I respect how they could. Obviously, I can see how someone would think that. But absolutely not. I have never had negative feelings towards him. We have known him for many years.”

Among Williams’ most notable critics was the personality of ESPN Stephen A. Smith, who said he would divorce his wife if she was “trolling her ex.” Williams saw the comments, but told Time that he was entitled to his opinions.
“I thought it was funny,” he said. “You are allowed to have your personal opinion. But did you see my husband’s comment? It was so eloquent.”
Williams’ husband, the co -founder of Reddit, Alexis Ohanian, defended it in a publication on social networks, saying: “Some of you have no idea how criticized it was serene for this same dance in Wimbledon 13 years ago and is shown … this is bigger than music. ”
