NDMA emits a heavy rain alert, storms through Punjab

The National Authority for Disaster Management (NDMA) has issued a weather advice warning of heavy rains, wind storms, electric storms and isolated hail storms in Punjab parts from Friday night until Saturday, which can affect infrastructure, transport and agriculture, agriculture, Pakistan radio reported.

According to the National Emergency Operations Center, the affected areas may include Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Atock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Jhang, Khushab, Mianwali, Lahore, Nanowal, Sahiwal, Sargodha and Sheikhupura.

The agency warned that heavy winds and rains could cause trees to fall and lead to temporary power cuts. Hail storms can damage crops and outdoor structures, particularly those with glass surfaces.

Travelers have been advised to verify the road conditions before leaving and avoid unnecessary trips for periods of intense climate. Residents are urged in areas prone to landslides to remain alert and follow local security guidelines.

“The public is strongly recommended to take all the necessary precautions to minimize the risks associated with severe climate,” said the NDMA in a statement.
