The Sindh irrigation department sent a new letter, its second in 48 hours, to the authority of the Indo River System (IRSA), urging at the immediate closure of the Taunsa Panjnad (TP) link channel to avoid the shortage of water in the province.
The growing controversy about the channel operations intensified after Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah strongly criticized the Punjab government for diverting the increase in water to the TP link truck. In response, IRSA said all decisions were made in accordance with the law.
On Tuesday, the irrigation department of Sindh wrote to IRSA, asking for a stop in the transfer of water from the Indo River to the Jhelum-Cenab system.
