A president of the Council of the Union of the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP), Amir Bhashani, was shot dead in an objective attack in the area of Gulshan-E-Zia of the city of Orangi on Thursday night, police said.
Bhashani, also known as Amir Bhutto, was sitting inside a camp office near his house number one, Gulshan-E-Zia, when unidentified assailants opened fire around 7:50 pm
A case was presented at the Pakistan Bazar police station under positions of murder and anti -terrorism, with three unidentified armed men appointed as suspicious by his father Muhammad Kalam.
Kalam, in his statement, mentioned that around 7:50 pm, he heard shots from the camp office.
Two of the assailants ran out of the office, got on a motorcycle and fled the scene, leaving Amir seriously injured.
Kalam hastened to the office and found his injured son. He immediately took Amir to Bismillah Chowk on a motorcycle, from where an ambulance transported him to the Abbasi Shaheed hospital.
Unfortunately, Amir succumbed to his wounds before arriving at the hospital.
Kalam believes that his son was killed for unknown reasons, possibly linked to a personal or political dispute. However, the authorities are still investigating the reason behind the shooting.
The PPP has condemned the murder, demanding a rapid action of the authorities.
