The Tesla Cybertruck is not being sold in the numbers that CEO Elon Musk predicted, and with the inventory accumulating, the company is implementing numerous tactics to obtain the divisive electric truck in the hands of customers.
According to several reports, Tesla offers up to $ 11,900 discount on the initial price of many Cybertruck models in the United States, while Canadian potential buyers are also being attracted to up to CAD $ 16,590 discount.
Beyond the discount, many of these agreements also include additional sweeteners, including free life load through the brand’s supercharging network and access for life for complete autonomous (supervised) technology, which generally requires a monthly subscription rate.
When Cybertruck was launched in 2023, Elon Musk emphatically announced that the vehicle would sell more than 250,000 units a year, but that figure is more like 25,000 units.
Forbes called the model “The greatest failure of the automotive industry in decades”, citing similar sales failures, such as Ford Edsel and Butt -UGLY Pontiac Aztek became famous for Breaking Bad, as better than Cybertruck with steel panels.
Despite launching a new more affordable Cybertruck model last week, Tesla is now slowing down the production of the model in its gigafactory in Texas to avoid further storage, according to a Business Insider report.
Cybertruck suffers from Delorean’s curse
Like the DMC sports car with seagull wings back to the future, Cybertruck had its moment in the center of attention and now faces a massive recession in demand.
Despite being separated for almost 50 years, the stories of Delorean and Cybertruck are disturbingly similar, with an extravagant style initially capturing the attention of the public, but the reports of poor construction quality and the consequent public controversy that surrounds the owner effectively killed both projects.
The conclusion is that Cybertruck has come to represent everything that a great strip of the American public is currently being criticized. As a result, it has been the focal point of aggression, vandalism and ridiculous.
We have informed about a general cooling of the demand for most Tesla products, with close competitors anxious to go and make conquest sales.
But this is a particularly thorny problem for Cybertruck, and it seems that it doesn’t matter how much Musk chooses to encourage it, the days of the divisive truck could be counted.
