Islamabad:
On Friday, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to constructive commitment within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
He emphasized the importance of mutually beneficial collaboration, particularly in the areas of bilateral trade, transport and regional connectivity. The Deputy Prime Minister made these comments during a meeting with the secretary general of the SCO, Nurlan Yermekbayev, who is currently in an official visit to Pakistan. Give congratulated Yermekbayev for assuming responsibilities such as the new secretary general of the SCO and assured Pakistan’s full support to the SCO Secretariat. He highlighted the close historical ties of Pakistan with the OCS member states and reaffirmed the country’s dedication to defending the “spirit of Shanghai.”
He also praised the potential of the SCO as a platform to promote regional peace and security, as well as to promote economic development throughout the region.
In this context, the Deputy Prime Minister reiterated the constructive participation of Pakistan to promote mutually beneficial cooperation within the SCO framework, particularly in the bilateral trade domains, transport and connectivity.
Secretary General Yermekbayev thanked Pakistan for his warm hospitality and appreciated the country’s active commitment in SCO matters. He specifically praised the successful Pakistan organization of the Government Chiefs Council of the OCS Member States (SCO CHG) held in Islamabad in October 2024.
