Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday firmly condemned the attack against the vehicle of the state minister of Kheeal Das Kohistani.
He spoke with Kheal Das Kohistani on the phone and expressed his sympathy.
The prime minister assured the State Minister of State an exhaustive investigation into the incident.
He said the attack against public representatives was unacceptable and added that the people involved in the incident would receive exemplary punishments.
Previously, the protesters in Thatta attacked the vehicle of the State Minister for Religious Affairs, Kheeal Das Kohistani, during a demonstration against controversial projects of the irrigation channel.
The incident developed when Kohistaní’s convoy tried to go through an area where the members of the Nationalist Party were organizing a protest. According to Express News, the protesters, angry at the presence of the convoy, reacted by throwing the vehicle with stones, eggs and tomatoes, accompanied by strong slogans.
Despite the hostile reception, the convoy was able to leave the area safely without injuries or more reported clashes.
