Lenovo has announced its most powerful AMD laptop until now: the ThinkPad P14s Gen 6, which will be launched with the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 370 of 12 cores, which makes it the first AMD model of the company that passes through the eight -core roof.
Aimed at creative professionals and mobile devices users who need AI and performance processing with the nucleus, the ThinkPad P14s Gen 6 admits up to 96 GB of RAM DDR5-5600, but only in configurations using the CPU KRACKAN POINT, namely, the Ryzen AI 5 PRO 340 and Ryzen AI 7 Pro 350.
That means that the 12 -core Strix Point model can be limited to 64 GB of welded memory. While it is a limitation, it still offers enough to demand workloads such as 3D Rendering or Photoshop, so it is a strong candidate for users looking for the best laptop for photo editing.
Bad battery choice
While the processing capacity could place it among the best contestants of the workstation in terms of gross energy, there is an inconvenience: the battery of the model can have difficulty matching the energy demands of the chip.
With a weight of 1.39 kg (3.06 lbs) and measuring 10.9–16.3 mm thick, the device uses a 57Whr or 52.5Whr battery, depending on the CPU.
Although both batteries are larger than the battery Weede 39.3Whr in the ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 above, they can still fight under the load of new and more powerful processors. However, the laptop supports a fast charge with a 65 W adapter, capable of reaching 80% battery in 60 minutes.
This light mobile work station, currently listed on the Lenovo Malaysia website, has an 14-inch OLED 2.8K panel with 100% DCI-P3 coverage and an anti-glare coating.
It includes Tüv certifications for the view and low light, a touch screen, integrated privacy, and will be available in different IPS variants that offer a brightness of up to 500 nits.
The graphics are handled by an integrated AMD Radeon 890m, built in RDNA 3.5 architecture, delivering up to 32 tops and compatible with the AMD Pro graphic controller.
For connectivity, the device offers Wifi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, WWAN 5G or Optional Cat16 with Optional ESIM and NFC.
Physical ports include two USB-C ports (Thunderbolt 4), two USB-A (5 Gbps), HDMI 2.1, RJ45 Ethernet, a combined connector of headphones/microphone and optional readers of Nano Sim and Smart Card.
The price and availability are still clear, since the list simply says “available soon.” Since it is unlikely that T14 Gen 6 AMD models are sent before May or in June 2025, the P14S variant will probably not reach the shelves before the summer.
