The security in Islamabad increased on Sunday as the authorities sealed all the roads that led to the red zone before a “march of solidarity of Gaza” planned by Jamaat-E-Islami (JI).

JI had previously announced a march towards the United States embassy in the capital to protest Washington’s support for Israel’s military actions in Gaza.

The march, scheduled to start at 3:00 pm, led to the authorities to display a strong police presence and block three main entrance points to the red zone using containers, spike wire and concrete barriers.

JI general secretary, Amirul Azeem, confirmed the protest in a video message, urging citizens of all areas of life to participate.

He emphasized the peaceful nature of the demonstration, citing the recent manifestations of the party in Karachi and Lahore.

Previously, Jamaat-E-Isami announced a national closing strike on April 22 to express solidarity with the people of Gaza in the middle of the continuous offensive of Israel.

The announcement was made by the leader of JI, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, while heading to a great meeting during the “Palestine March” held in Karachi on Sunday.

Pakistan has constantly condemned Israeli military operations in Gaza and has requested a high immediate fire, the resumption of humanitarian aid and the establishment of a Palestinian State.
