The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to include the treatment of three main transplant procedures: kidney, liver and bone marrow, under its Sehat Card Plus program.
In addition, the cost of cochlear implants will also be completely covered by the government.
The decision was taken during a high -level meeting chaired by the main minister of KP. The provincial information advisor, the lawyer Muhammad Ali Saif, said that the Government would now provide transplant services and completely free implants, marking a great expansion of the health insurance plan.
“This is another revolutionary step in line with the vision of the founding president,” said lawyer Saif, referring to PTI medical care reforms.
He added that the services under this program would be accessible to eligible citizens without any financial burden.
The Provincial Health Department has received instructions to implement these changes immediately. The Government also plans to include rehabilitation services for drugs addicted to drugs under the Sehat card.
In a parallel development, the KP government approved the regulations that allow the use of cannabis plants for medical, research and industrial purposes.
Previously, the KP government launched free services of the Patriz Patient Department (OPD) under the Sehat Card Plus scheme. The initiative was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur during a ceremony held at the Main Minister’s Chamber.
The OPD scheme began as a pilot project in the Mardan district, where it was initially implemented to benefit 50,000 deserving homes.
The project was expected to expand in the second phase to the districts of Chitral, Malakand and Kohat, which finally reached around 120,000 deserving homes in these areas, according to the data of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).
