An internal responsibility committee of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) has cleared the president of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assembly, Babar Salem Swati of accusations related to illegal appointments.

The Committee’s report, published by the legal member of Qazi Anwar, states that the accusations were made by former Senator Azam Swati, but were not corroborated with evidence.

According to the findings, the appointments in question occurred before the mandate of Babar Swati or were done in accordance with the established procedures.

The report states that Swati is being attacked due to its loyalty to the founding president of PTI and his spouse, rather than by administrative misconduct.

The committee also noted that Babar Swati had addressed the assembly last November with respect to police action against PTI workers in D-Chowk in Islamabad. According to reports, the speech led to a broader debate in the Chamber, with the participation of government and opposition members.

The report highlights the role of Swati in the elevation of issues such as the Katlang incident, where the discussion began and saw a resolution approved by the Assembly.

The committee concluded that Swati’s political position and the internal loyalty of the party are the underlying reasons for the pressure currently facing.
