The first base of San Diego’s parents, Luis Arraáz, was stretched from the field in Daikin Park in Houston on Sunday night after colliding with the second base of the stars, Mauricio Dubon, while he ran out of touch.
Arraáz was breaking it along the line after dragging his touch to the bag, and Dubon noticed that the first base Christian Walker and the pitcher Framber Valdez were not going to reach the base on time to leave.
Walker turned the ball to Dubon, who only beat Arraáz to the bag, but did not provide Arraáz in any way to cross the bag. In a flicker, Arraáz and Dubon collided, and the star of parents caught the worst.

The scene was terrifying when Arraáz was still in the grass near the first base. The medical staff hastened to help the designated hitter. After a delay of 11 minutes, they placed it on a stretcher with their neck and head insured and took the field to the Houston Methodist hospital.
The parents issued a statement later saying that Arraáz was in stable conditions.
“It is currently stable, conscious, receptive and capable of moving its limbs,” says the statement.
Arraáz also gave the crowd in Daikin Park to show that he was aware and conscious, which led to a positive reception of all.

“That was very scary,” said parents manager Mike Shildt, Buster Olney De ESPN during the “Baseball Sunday Night” transmission. “We do not see much that kind of collisions in our sport. Luis is a very, very hard guy, and to see it that way, you know that something is quite serious. He took a quite good blow, it seems that he is now stable, he has feeling in his extremities, he is alert, aware of what happened, which is good. Now we are worried, because he has a little cut in the jaw, worried about the jaw and what happened, what is good. A little cut in the jaw, worried about the jaw and what is fine, what is worried, and, and, and whatever, what is what is in the jaw and what is the statability of that.
The teammates of Arraáz’s parents in the field were visibly shaken, with Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado praying together.
“This is a very close group, man, this is a group that really loves himself,” Shildt added. “People say that a lot, but there is a lot of real love. Luis is a large part of our team, a large part of the club’s heart. I told him that he loved him and that we will be fine and pray for him, just thinking about him.”

The high contact sand is a clear asset at the beginning of the parents’ season, possessing an average of .287 to start the year. Arraáz was 1 by 18 to start the year, but it has been hitting .338 in the last 17 games.
Interna has been a batting champion in each of the last three seasons and died of 200 hits in 2023 and 2024.
