Today a historical moment was developed in the sandy extension of the Cholistan desert, as a rare sighting of a Caracal cat was first confirmed in its natural habitat.
The majestic wild feline was observed in hunting mode, with a herd of Chinkara deer nearby, which makes the scene even more notable.

The Caracal is among the in danger of the extinction of Pakistan and is notoriously difficult to detect, especially in arid and semi-desert regions such as Cholistan. Its presence not only means the ecological vitality of the region, but also underlines the impact of the monitoring and conservation efforts of ongoing wildlife.
Mujahid Kaleem, Wildlife Assistant of the Conservative, Rahim Yar Khan, described the sighting as one of the most unforgettable experiences of his career. “Such moments are a source of immense joy for each nature enthusiast and wildlife officer,” he said.
According to the Department of Wildlife, the rare observation has been documented and will be used for future research and conservation strategies aimed at protecting vulnerable wildlife species in the country.
