TO University Softball Player And his coach is dead after his team bus was involved in a frontal collision in Oregon while traveling home from a game, school officials and the police confirmed during the weekend.
Kiley Jones, a first -year student in the softball team at the Umpqua Community University, and chief coach Jami Strinz was tragically killed on Friday night when the team’s bus was hit by another vehicle while driving home from a game in Coos Bay, Oregon.

According to an accident report from the State Police of Oregon, Strinz was driving the team bus around 9:56 pm when a driver in a Silverado Chevrolet who was traveling in the opposite direction crossed the central line to the lane in which the bus was traveling and hit them straight ahead.
Jones, 19, was declared dead at the scene, and Strinz, 46, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died. There were 10 members of the softball team on the bus at the time of the accident.

It was said that eight other people on the bus suffered “moderate to serious injuries.”
The driver of Chevrolet Silverado, Johnathan James Dowdy, 32, suffered “serious injuries” and was transported to a hospital in the area. Research on the fatal accident is still ongoing, APPLICATION OF THE LAW saying.

The governor of Oregon, Tina Kotek, issued a statement about X saying: “My heart hurts by the @umpquacc family staggering this tragedy. Oregon is here for you in your pain and loss. You are in my prayers. Many thanks to @orsstatepolice and other emergency responders for your compassionate response.”
The Umpqua Community College softball team canceled both games on Saturday after the tragic deaths. They must play next Friday.
