According to an accident report from the State Police of Oregon, Strinz was driving the team bus around 9:56 pm when a driver in a Silverado Chevrolet who was traveling in the opposite direction crossed the central line to the lane in which the bus was traveling and hit them straight ahead.

Jones, 19, was declared dead at the scene, and Strinz, 46, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died. There were 10 members of the softball team on the bus at the time of the accident.

It was said that eight other people on the bus suffered “moderate to serious injuries.”

The Umpqua Community College softball team canceled both games on Saturday after the tragic deaths. They must play next Friday.
