Karachi: In a bold act of street crime, a citizen motorcycle was stolen from the outside of a police station in the metropolis, while inside to meet an officer.
According to police sources, the incident occurred in the Korangi district at the Al-Falah Police station, where a citizen, named Shahid Iqbal, had come to meet the police staff. He had parked his motorcycle bearing number of 125cc KQT-6183 at the station door.

When leaving, he found the missing motorcycle, causing a fuss at the police station.
Interestingly, only a few minutes before theft, the suspect had entered the police station, greeted the service officer and the other staff and pretended to submit a report.
When police staff reviewed the CCTV images of the station, it was revealed that the suspect had executed the robbery in seconds and fled easily.
The images showed the suspect who entered the service officer’s room before the incident, pretending to inform a lost national identity card, taking the opportunity to evaluate the interior of the station. Police are currently looking for the suspect.
This incident occurs in the midst of a broader pattern of street crime in Karachi. On March 9, the Police Citizens Link Committee (CPLC) reported that 3,773 motorcycles and 195 cars were taken away or stolen only in February.
Even with police claims of a 21% decrease in general crime in 2024, street crime remains a pressing concern. Criminals continue to loot and harm citizens, often fatally, with minimal resistance.
Only last year, 106 people, including security personnel, professionals and civilians, were killed by street criminals, while almost another 300 suffered wounds.
