The founding president of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has said that the country and its people need both the establishment and its party to ensure unity and national stability.
The statement was transmitted by Imran’s legal representative, lawyer Faisal Chaudhry, after a meeting in the Adial prison of Rawalpindi, where Imran remains imprisoned.
Speaking to journalists, Chaudhry said Imran expressed concern about what he described as systematic attempts to put aside the PTI.
He said that the country had become a “banana republic” to crush the party, and that the institutions, including the Judiciary, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the police had been damaged in the process.
Imran also criticized the restrictions on meetings with family and legal advice, stating that it was their constitutional right. “At one time, even nine lawyers could meet him. Now, only two were allowed,” Chaudhry added.
‘He pointed out that Imran’s health was good, but he had been informed that his sisters and several leaders of the party were denied visit rights. Imran also raised objections on his wife, Bushra Bibi, facing the abuse in custody, “he added.
The former prime minister also reiterated the position of PTI as a “national and feeding political force capable of joining the country.”
His lawyer also said that Imran had ordered the legal and political leadership of his party to address legal issues related to constitutional amendments and pending judicial cases, some of which, according to him, were deliberately delayed.
The founding president of the PTI had also expressed concern for the economy in the difficulties of Pakistan and the lack of foreign investment, which blamed bad governance and the absence of the rule of law.
