Cincinnati’s first year offensive liner Jeremiah Kelly died unexpectedly at age 18 on Tuesday.
Kelly was found in his residence, and his cause of death was not revealed by school.
“The Bearcats football family is disconsolate by the sudden loss of this outstanding young man,” said the Bearcats chief coach Scott Satterfield, in a statement.

“In the short time that Jeremiah has happened with our team, it has had a real impact, both in the countryside and in our locker room. My prayers are with the Kelly family and those who had the pleasure of meeting Jeremiah.”
Kelly was one of the first sharp at school and practiced with the football team in the spring semester. The native of Avon, Ohio, graduated from Avon High School.

Kelly was part of the Avon Eagles football team that was 16-0 in 2024 and helped deliver the first state school championship. Kelly received honors throughout the first team and all the districts and was appointed Lineman SWC of the year as a last year student.
Like Junior, Kelly helped take the Eagles to a record of 14-1 and was a teammate with the current Cincinnati corridor, Jakorion Caffey.

“We have suffered a heartbreaking loss today,” said Athletics Director John Cunningham. “All of us at UC send our love and prayers to the Kelly family and we will do everything possible to support them and our students athletes of Bearcats in the difficult days and weeks ahead.”
The Bearcats were 5-7 last season and 3-6 in the Big 12. It was the second season of Satterfield as chief coach after Luke Fickell went to Wisconsin before the 2023 season.
