Los Angeles Chargers will face the Detroit Lions in the 2025 Professional Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, on July 31, the Hall of Fame announced Wednesday.
It will be the first time since 2000 that a NFL preseason game will be played in July.
The closed wing Antonio Gates, a former charger, will be officially included in the Hall of Fame on August 2, along with corner Eric Allen, the defensive wing Jared Allen and the open receiver Sterling Sharpe.

The lions will be the designated local team of the game after they left 15-2 last season and were the number 1 seed of the NFC. They were annoying impressive by Washington’s commanders in the divisional round.
After the loss, both the offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and the defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn departed for chief training work. Johnson joined the rival of the Los Leones division, the Chicago Bears, while Glenn took the position of the New York Jets coach.

As for the chargers, they come from a campaign in which they were 11-6 and arrived at the playoffs in the first season of Chief coach Jim Harbaugh with the team. They lost in the Round of Commodines against the Houston Texans, a game in which Field Marshal Justin Herbert fought powerfully.
In more than 17 regular seasonal games, Herbert launched only three interceptions, but in the defeat of the Playoffs of the Chargers, he released four interceptions in his career.

This will be the fourth trip to Canton for the lions and the third for the chargers. Detroit played for the last time in the game in 1991, beating the Denver Broncos 14-3. The last appearance for the Chargers was a defeat by 21-17 against the Atlanta Falcons in 1994.
