President Donald Trump went to the wave of sports teams that suffered name changes in recent years to eliminate references to the heritage of the Native Americans.
Trump described the changes in the name of “degradation for the Indian population.”
“I think it is degrading for the Indian population, and it is a large population, and they like them when they call them several names,” Trump said.
Trump refused to say if he would try to make Washington change his name to Redskins as a condition to build a new stadium in federal property. However, Trump said he believes that Redskins was better than the current name of the team.

“I can tell you that I talked to people of the Indian inheritance who love that name and love that team, and I think it is a name much superior to what they have at this time and had an inheritance behind him, he had something special,” Trump said.
The Washington Post published a survey in June that found that 58% of fans The commanders of the commanders said they do not like the new name of the team.
Trump also criticized the decision to change the name of the MLB Cleveland Indians to the Guardians after the end of the 2021 season.
