Rawalpindi:
Pakistan Railways has closed the Pakistan Railways (Pracs) consulting service, reducing 280 employees in the middle of a severe financial crunch.
The measure caused a strong reaction of the affected personnel, which organized a protest against the decision. They lifted slogans against the railway administration, blocked the road and announced plans to challenge the closure in the court.
Railway officials sealed the Pracs offices and transferred valuable items such as computers, furniture and other equipment in two large rooms. Previously, 80 employees were fired on April 6.
