Karachi:
The head of the Awaam Pakistan party (app), Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, said Thursday that no country could attract investment in the midst of political chaos and in the absence of the rule of law, emphasizing that an improvement should not be expected until the country was rowed under the Constitution.
Speaking in the program ‘Meet The Press’ at the Karachi Press Club (KPC), Abbasi condemned the actions of India after Pahalgam’s attack, particularly the suspension of the Indo Waters Treaty. “No one can be allowed to stop water. We have to become a nation and face Indian aggression,” he said.
The former prime minister was expanding in several issues facing the country, from the controversy of the channels to the situation of the law and order, and criticized the performance of the federal government. He also talked about infrastructure and services delivery problems in Karachi.
“Karachi is Pakistan’s jugular vein, if this does not work, then Pakistan will not work,” said Abbasi, who served as prime minister for the year in 2017-18, to journalists. “The conditions that will be in Karachi will be the same in all Pakistan.”
He said that 70 of the population of Karachi had no access to tap water. “Where water is supplied in the world through oil tankers. It means that the required amount of water is available, but people are deprived of tap water facilities,” he said.
On the issue of channels, he said that the issues should have been raised in the Senate and the National Assembly. “Sindh is in protest today, which will affect the whole country.” In Baluchistan, he said that the solution to his problem would be only through conversations and listening to his people’s concerns.
Abbasi said that the freedom of the media promulgated in all parts of the world, therefore, “today is not time to restrict the media” by resorting to legislation. “Today, new provinces are needed. Reforms are needed, but unfortunately, no reforms were discussed.
