The Sindh government has announced plans to impose official price limits on brand products sold in supermarkets and karachi superstiendas, Express News reported Friday.

The General Directorate of the Office of Supplies and Prices will collect data on production costs and profit margins to establish the price structure.

This will help establish fair prices of essential goods in the market.

The decision was taken after a meeting chaired by Zahid Hussain Shar, the general director of the supply office. Senior officials and representatives of the main retail chains were present at the meeting.

Shar explained that retail companies in Karachi must now register their warehouses with the supply office and keep them updated.

He emphasized the importance of enforcing the consumer protection law to protect consumer rights.

The government now has the authority to regulate the prices of brand items produced or sold in Karachi. This price mechanism is expected to be implemented next month.

Data on production costs and profit margins will be collected first to guarantee transparency and equity in the process.

The objective is to ensure that Karachi residents can access brand products at reasonable prices while addressing continuous inflationary pressures.
