The Karachi Intermediate Education Board (BIEK) announced the postponement of annual intermediate exams by 2025, originally scheduled to begin on April 28.
The exams will now begin from May 5.
The decision was made after the directives of the President of the Board, citing two main reasons for the delay.
In the first place, the continuous process of granting marks of grace in mathematics, chemistry and physical for pre-enternier, preengineering and general scientists of the first year of 2024 has not yet been completed.
Second, several exam centers are still occupied with registration exams that began on April 8 and will continue until May 8.
The authorities said the overlap required adjustments to maintain the organization of the exam system and guarantee the availability of the center.
Students, educational institutions and parents who continue the preparations have been advised according to the new schedule.
Biek declared that more updates or changes would be communicated through its official website (www.biek.edu.pk) and its social media pages verified on Facebook and Instagram.
Yesterday, the Department of Universities and Boards of the Government of SENDH issued an official notification that granted marks of grace to the students that appear in the intermediate annual exams of part I (pre-medical and pre-genering) of 2024. The decision includes granting marks of grace from 15% to 20% in the key matters of the sciences.
The notification was issued after the approval of the provincial cabinet during its meeting held on April 15. According to the directive, students will receive 20% of grace brands in chemistry and 15% in physics and mathematics.
The Karachi Intermediate Education Board has been informed of the decision, and the implementation instructions have been issued accordingly.
The notification, signed by Sharifuddin, board section officer in the Department of Universities and Boards, directs the president of the Karachi Intermediate Board to continue with the necessary arrangements to apply the Cabinet decision.
It is important to keep in mind that currently, the Karachi Intermediate Board does not have a permanent president. The position is temporarily occupied by the president of the Karachi Registration Board.
