The residents of the Karachi Ramswami area organized a violent protest on Sunday night until Monday morning, assaulting the K-Electric office near the garden headquarters on a prolonged blackout.
The protesters threw stones at the K-Electric office and broke the windows of two mini trucks parked outside, said Express News.
Some protesters also hit vehicles with sticks. The strong songs against K-electric and the government of Sindh resonated in the area as frustrations were mounted.
The residents said that the energy supply to their town had been suspended from Sunday 7 am, and despite the repeated complaints, no measures were taken.
With altamicated temperatures, many complained about the conditions of deterioration at home, particularly that affect children, the elderly and the sick.
The interruption also triggered a serious shortage of water, exacerbating the problems of residents.
The protesters accused K-electric staff of avoiding calls for their aid and said there was no superior official available in the office to address their complaints.
“We are continuously lying,” said a resident.
“They claim that the interruption is due to cable failures, but no repairs have been carried out. If someone falls seriously or worse, K-Electric will be responsible and we will present a formal case.”
Later, the police arrived at the scene and assured the crowd that the efforts were underway to restore power.
The residents dispersed after the guarantee, but warned that they would protest again on Monday morning if electricity did not restore.
K-electric has not yet issued an official statement about the incident.
