Islamabad:

The polyomyelitis virus has been detected in 22 of 34 environmental samples collected from 44 districts throughout Pakistan, authorities said Monday.

A total of 56 environmental samples were collected, of which 34 samples proved negative, while 22 confirmed the presence of the polyomyelitis virus.

The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) declared that there has been a significant reduction in the propagation of the virus after vaccination campaigns carried out in February and April of this year.

During this year’s second polio campaign, more than 45.3 million children received vaccine falls against polyomyelitis.
