- Samsung Galaxy S22 devices have received an IU 7 earlier than expected
- This suggests that Samsung software deployment goes rather
- We are starting to learn what characteristics these older devices will receive
The deployment of a Samsung UI 7 has been less than ideal, to say it gently, but things finally seem to return to the track, since Samsung smartphones seem to receive their characteristics before planned.
Its launch from April to older Samsung devices (outside the betas) has already felt late, especially taking into account the Android Google I/O showcase (a UI 7 is expected on Android 15) in just a few weeks on May 20 and 21, and that was only aggravated by the discovery of a serious error that caused more delays in the launch of Samsung software.
Since then, a solution has been found and the software update continued, and better, it is reported (through Sammyguru) that the devices as old as the Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are beginning to receive a 7 in South Korea.
This is remarkable because Samsung said that these older Korean phones would not see the update until some May, which means that we are not only back along the way but before planning.
We may still need to wait a little longer for the same phones to obtain an IU 7 in other markets, but this is a clear sign that (fortunately) we should not be waiting too much more to obtain the update based on Android 15.
But what will an UI 7 bring to these major devices and not S25?
What will an IU 7 be in older phones?
With an UI 7 now appearing on more non-Samsung Galaxy S25 devices, it is much clearer what characteristics these devices will get, and what features are being lost.
The characteristics of the Galaxy AI as now are brief are and an audio draft, waiting, are absent, but the oldest phones seem to obtain an attenuated version of now bar (the Samsung version of the dynamic island of iPhone), although of what has been shown so far it seems mainly a glorified media control bar on older phones.
They are receiving the various cosmetic changes from UI 7, such as the improved customization of the application screen, updated icons, such as phone battery and new games reinforcement controls so that you can customize your experience for different titles.
We also hope to see some useful productivity, safety and camera tools on the oldest phones, based on this complete adjustment of each UI 7 characteristic of Samsung.
As more devices receive the update, we should obtain a clearer image of the characteristics of UI 7 will be universally available, and with Samsung apparently anticipating its implementation schedule, it should not take much time to get access to the updated tools we obtain.
