At least five people died and another five wounds seriously after an explosion of gas cylinders caused a fire in a store in the Ravi Road area of Lahore, authorities said.
The rescue sources confirmed that the fire exploded when a cylinder exploded inside the store, said Express News.
The emergency services rushed to the scene, extinguished the flames and transferred the deceased and injured a nearby hospital.
It is reported that the injured are critical.
After the incident, Lahore’s operations expressed their regret for the loss of lives and ordered an immediate scan of the area with the help of relevant departments.
He instructed the police to remain on a maximum alert and requested strict surveillance in all municipal areas.
The officials also ordered the immediate closure of all illegal LPG points that operate in the vicinity.
Research on the cause and possible negligence are ongoing.
