Open NFL Renfrow hunter receptor signed with the Carolina Panthers During the weekend and hopes to return to the football field this season after a health diagnosis left him aside last year.
Renfrow, 29, signed with the Panthers on Sunday, in an interview published on the team’s website, Renfrow opened about his previous health struggles, which held former Clemson outstanding during the entire 2024 season.

“I kicked my ass quite well” Renfrow said: revealing that he was diagnosed with the autoimmune condition, ulcerative colitis. “Last year, I fluctuated in weight; I went down to 150 pounds. I had about seven days of 103 degrees. It is difficult to play when you don’t feel great.”

In addition to fevers and weight loss, Renfrow also fought with fatigue.
“He is just trying to return, trying to be healthy, trying to do something that I love,” he said about his recovery and training. “I enjoyed other parts of life. We had our second daughter, so enjoying that and just wanting to make sure that if I will return and pay my time and attention to something I would be in that.”

Ulcerative colitis is an “intestinal inflammatory disease (EII) that causes inflammation and sores, called ulcers, in part of the digestive tract,” according to The Mayo Clinic. Symptoms generally develop over time and sometimes lead to “complications that threaten life.”

While there is no cure, treatment can greatly reduce the effects of ulcerative colitis.
“It’s a strange sensation. I thank you for the moments when you feel good,” Renfrow said about his health trip. “I thank you for the opportunities you have had, and when you feel that you have been blessed with some ability to go out and act, it makes you want to waste the opportunity you have. And that was one of the reasons why I wanted to return and play.”
Renfrow was recruited by The assailants In the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He obtained 269 receptions for 2,884 reception yards and 17 touchdowns in five seasons with the organization.

Renfrow joins an stacked receiver room, which includes recurring veteran Adam Thielen and two first -round teams, Tetaira McMillan (2025) and Xavier Legette (2024).
“I want to try to be a great teammate and try to go out and compete with some friends,” Renfrow added. “I have not yet met many people here, but I imagine there are incredible people and an incredible group of boys here with whom I am excited to compete.”
